The record-breaking case went to court in the Yaroslavl region, we have been waiting for this for a very long time. A unique criminal case of torture and humiliation in pre-trial detention center No. 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Yaroslavl region. The investigation established how 15 employees of the pre-trial detention center, headed by the acting head of the pre-trial detention center, were beaten, tortured, stripped naked, doused (initially - with urine, but officially - allegedly with water) to humiliate, used handcuffs, rubber truncheons, beaten by the whole shift in the presence of women - employees who themselves also participated in the execution.
For the entire recent history of the Russian Federation, for the first time, the court received a case of such beatings against so many employees of a torture pre-trial detention center. The terms of the investigation in the case are also record-breaking, they were repeatedly extended personally by the chairman of the ICR, Alexander Bastrykin.
The accused are sadists, the entire period of the investigation served in the penitentiary system, the main suspect in torture, Maxim Melnikov, was transferred from the pre-trial detention center to the notorious IK-1 by the head of the operational department. A serious crime - abuse of power with the use of violence - occurred on 10/20/16, that is, 5.5 years ago. The case was initiated 1.5 years later, the court received it only on February 14, 2022.
The generals of the Federal Penitentiary Service repeatedly tried to lobby for the termination of the case, the victim was pressured, the accused sadists were under house arrest for years, and yet the case went to court and now its outcome depends, among other things, on public outcry and media attention. Justice VS mutual responsibility. Will the sadists be judged or will the system protect its sadists? Time will tell.
